You know what…the system works…

S Peters Dressage produces horses, riders and coaches.  Shannon and Steffen have consistently produced the best horses, the best riders and the best coaches currently in North America.  The system works.

Stop, go and turn.  Stop, go and turn without tension, with lightness and with understanding.

So our current version of stop, go and turn had an update and was taken to the next level with Shannon’s help this weekend.  We have now installed stop, go and turn 6.1!

Lance, Fred and William all love the new update!!

And boy are we excited for the work ahead!  The clearer the basics are, the better the work develops.

Thank you Shannon.  Small words for a very big feeling…thank you.

"Lindsey, there are all sorts of people in our arena!"

"Ahhhh...Shannon's going to take a spin today....I get it..."

I love Grand Prix dressage horses…

I really love Grand Prix dressage horses.  I love being with them, I love watching them and I love developing them.

This journey we are on is all about Grand Prix dressage horses.  And Grand Prix dressage horses are really just all about the basics.  The journey is all about learning, discovering and understanding the basics…the basics of riding, the basics of coaching and basics of management.

Honing, tweaking and tweaking again…down to the basics.

So this week we are tweaking our footing.  We have great footing, rubber (Perma Flex) and sand.  So is there a tweak on great footing?  Yes.  Yes there is…add GGT (German Geo Textile) to our already great footing.

In developing and maintaining Grand Prix horses, arena footing is crucial.  The environment they work in and on is very important to their futures.  Good footing promotes soundness, increases longevity and eases day to day skill development.  Yeah!

About 1/2 done!! Thank you for all the help to the greatest son in the world!!!! I'm sure he'll never text me mid afternoon again...

About 1/2 done!! Thank you for all the help to the greatest son in the world!!!! (I’m sure he’ll never text me mid afternoon again…)

About 3/4 done. Thank you Dana and Linda!! Hope you finally got all the fluff washed out of your hair!

About 3/4 done. Thank you Dana and Linda!! Hope you finally got all the fluff washed out of your hair!

Greg, Ivars and I finally finished the whole arena last night.  This stuff is very labour intensive to install!

Today is a “no riding” day.  On the schedule today will be to water the new footing and harrow it using the new Parma Groomer…new footing, new groomer!  (honing and tweaking the basics…)

Off to another great day!!!

Yup…Shannon Peter’s Dressage Clinic!!!

Shannon's Clinic Flyer1-page0001

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!!!  Shannon’s coming!!!

August 2 and 3 at Flying Colours.

You can click on the poster above and it’ll enlarge for better reading.  (Sorry…don’t know how to make that an easier transition!!)

If you caught any of Lance and Lindsey’s work at the CDI last weekend (66% Grand Prix, 69.2% Grand Prix Freestyle) and you’d like some insight on how the training is laid out to produce that work (and getting better daily!!), mark the above posted dates on your calendar for this clinic.  We have worked with Shannon for the last 5 winters and it shows!  As well as our 3 horses in this clinc, there will be 4 other horses from around the province here at FCS to work with Shannon for 2 days.  The horses will range from the Young Horse level to Grand Prix.

Team Peters produces some of the top dressage horses in the world today and we are very happy Shannon will be here to help us train ours in August.

Auditor spots $20 (Call to book a spot!)

Jog done. Grand Prix today!!

Yesterday was the jog for the CDI and it was the quickest, smoothest jog we’ve ever jogged!!  Braid, dress, then head to the jog area…wait there for one horse and then jog!  Done!  (What a lot of work for 5 secs in front of the judge/vet panel!!)  But done and accepted!!

Our first stop on our travels up the I5 to San Juan...Pannikin!!

Yesterday morning, our first stop on our travels north on the I5 to San Juan…Pannikin!!

Pannikin is on our way north so a clear first stop in our morning’s travels.  Pan-fried green tea, gluten free muffins and a box of healthy, tasty muffins for the hard working Team Peters grooms at the show.

This is for you Ivars...a white GT on our way north...miss you...

And Lance is ACCEPTED!

And Lance is ACCEPTED!

All the dressage horses sure looked over dressed walking to the jog through the crowds of jumpers at this show.  There are over 700 jumpers showing here as well as the CDI and national dressage show.  Kinda like a very, very mini Spruce Meadows.

This is the very best show we have ever attended.  The best footing, wonderful stabling, great judges, wonderful, friendly show organizers…did I mention amazing footing!!!!  The venue staff is so friendly and helpful (even helped me park the big trailer in a very tight parking lot!).  A wonderful place to compete.

A reminder to everyone who would like to be a spectator of the CDI…it will be on live broadcast at http://www.californiadreamingproductions.com   Look for the CPD Live tab at the top of the page and you’re there!!

Today, the PSG starts at 9:15 and runs to 2:20.  The Grand Prix starts at 2:45 and ends at 5:00.  These are all California times so Alberta is one hour ahead and Ontario is 3 hours ahead.

Lance and Lindsey’s time for today is 2:45.  We don’t know the time for the Grand Prix Special tomorrow till after the draw tonight.  (the Special tomorrow runs from 11:20 to 12:20 tomorrow)

We have William along with us as well at this show.  He is entered in the national PSG class tomorrow at 8:43.  A road trip for Baby William!

So…off to the show grounds…gonna be a wonderful day!!!

It’s very tired out this morning…

My brain is quite tired this morning but I’m going to attempt to put my thoughts together and put them into words.

This weekend was amazing…so amazing at so many levels.

To quote my Australian friend Gary Lung “to get to Grand Prix and you have to learn to ride again”.

So true, so true.

For the rider, for the horse and for the coach.

Steffen and Rosie, PSG and Inter One Champions

Shannon and Magic, Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special (National) champions

Dawn White-O’Connor (Team Peters assistant trainer) PSG, Inter One Reserve Champions!! Her first CDI!!

Lientje and Dawn…Lientje Schueler and Mike Tyson, 2nd place Grand Prix Special

Gary Lung and Chester competed in his first Inter A tests this weekend. Lientje will continue to coach Gary and Chester with clinics in Australia. We’re all going to miss you Gary (and Chester!).

And Ashley, and Gloriana, and Allison, and more…as someone commented to me this weekend “whenever I see a nice horse or test, it’s from Arroyo”.

Team Peters produces Grand Prix horses, riders and coaches.

We are learning…we are learning from the best in the world.

Thank you Shannon Peters, thank you Steffen Peters, thank you Team Peters.

And Lindsey and Lance were fourth in the Grand Prix Special yesterday.

Thank you Lindsey. Thank you Lance.
