Departing Phoenix arriving at coldest place in North American…call me crazy!!!

We have had the best week.  Golf, hot tub, great company, wonderful food.

The coach is running very well and just needs some tweaking on the slide.  We dropped it off at Desert West and they can have it for the next couple of weeks.  Desert West is a wonderful RV repair company in Phoenix.  They really know their stuff and take great care of us and our Foretravel!  It really is quite the experience to drive a 40 ft coach into their yard and have it be one of the smaller coaches!  Lots and lots of “rock star” buses and our cute little ‘ol coach!

Aleks and Neil have their Christmas decorations up and are just about ready for all of us arriving  there for the holidays.  Neil is busy finishing the remodel on the master bath and Aleks is finishing up all her Christmas sewing projects.  Aleks and I put together a wonderful wreath for the front door all from greens from the front garden.  Amazing.  It’s going to be great to celebrate some of the holidays in Scottsdale with all the kids.  Greg will be here Christmas Day; Kirsten, Andrew and Mack on Boxing Day and Ivars and I arrive December 30.  We’ll all have a couple of days together, the kids will then head back to Edmonton and Ivars and I head to California.  We’ll golf a little on the way, enjoy a bit of San Diego and get the coach set up in Escondido.  Escondido will be home away from home for Lindsey and I till April, 11 miles to Shannon and Steffan’s stable and close enough to the beach.

We’ve ordered a single legged kickstand for the Vespa.  The double legged kickstand is very stable but I’m too short to tip it off the kickstand and get off and running by myself.  I’m hoping the single legged kickstand will make the scooter more manageable for me!  Ivars will install in when we’re back in Phoenix and I can test drive it over the holidays.

So now we’re sitting in the Phoenix airport bracing ourselves for the flight back to minus 35 and to trying to start the car at  at 1:30 am in the cold….

On the road today!!!

Okay…the coach is ready for our trek south…new Euro headlight conversion (whoa…I can see the highway…gonna make night driving sooo much easier!!).  Replaced all the carpeting with cork flooring (warm, comfortable to walk on, easier to care for)…looks fabulous!   Gonna be so much easier at horse shows!!!

Thanks to Steve and Tanya and everyone at Alberta Coach for their wonderful work and expertise.  They take the term “full service” very seriously and have gone above and beyond our expectations.  Thank you!!!

We’re both working this am (full morning, all horses on the schedule this am) and will be on the road early afternoon.  Heading south, Las Vegas for a couple of days (wash the coach) and then to Phoenix.  Visit the kids, golf and relaxing in the sun.  So looking forward to the drive south, the views are spectacular, good roads and great company.

The coach will head to California early January, just ahead of the horses.

I repeat…wooo whoooo…on the road today.

Photos to follow (I’ll need to get internet up and running once we get to the States).

William is cantering!!!

Our young stallion, William is recovering in record time (record around here anyway!!).  He cantered one circle each way with Lindsey yesterday.  Colic surgery one month ago.  He loves to work, digs deep and tries so hard to figure things out under saddle.  He is still on “no turnout” ’cause he runs and bucks and bucks and bucks (trying to impress the girls, I’m sure!).  He gets hand walked and grazed several times during the day so he’s not bored.  He loves to be groomed and talks the girls into a good brush daily!  It’s soooo good to see him and Linds in the arena each day.  Linds may even need her spurs on soon!

Fred has turned into a PSG horse.  What an elegant, super mare!  She and Lindsey have put together such wonderful work this summer.  Fred has blossomed into a stunning girl.  The fall is going to hold some great schooling rides for Linds and Fred!  So exciting!!!

We are getting ready for the Steffan Peters clinic with Lindsey and Lance.  Lance is getting so strong.  He is settling into schooling the Grand Prix very nicely.  The 3 Ps (piaffe, passage, pirouettes) are coming along nicely.  It is such a thrill to watch the day to day work, so much learning and such good quality.  Linds and Lance are a wonderful team.

We are in the process of putting together our clinic, workshop and camp schedule for the fall at Flying Colours.  We’re waiting for confirmation on dates for several international clinicians.  Once the dates have been finalized then we can fill in the blanks for the rest of the clinics.

Looks like we’ll be heading to California for the spring.  We’re looking at show dates and working out the logisticsof horses, people and vehicles.  Ivarsand I have booked the last week of October to take the coach to Phoenix.  From Phoenix to California is a day’s trip to get the coach where we need it in February so no driving the Foretravel in minus 30+ this year…yeah!

Congratulations to Marilyn and Jennifer Parslow.  This mom and daughter are the new proud owners of Vaultara!  Tara spent the several months at Gorsline’s Stables learning the ropes of jumping.  She did great and put many jumper ribbons on her stall.  She’ll make a wonderful new versatile partner for Jen and Marilyn.  Lindsey will fine tune Tara’s schooling for the next couple of months with Jen and Marilyn.

A busy August into a great September!

Enjoy the journey,
