CAADA CDI at Anderson’s!

The view from my kitchen window this weekend…

Anderson's

The jog was a bit exciting yesterday as a small squall picked up just as the jog started. Everyone was accepted and everyone stayed safe :).

Lance’s Grand Prix CDI class is this morning, Jayne’s ride is around noon and William’s class is later this afternoon.

It promises to be a beautiful day for a horse show!!

Coaching hat on, off to the horse show…

It’s Yoga Teacher Training Weekend at Refresh Wellness!!

Happiness is when you think,

what you say,

and what you do

are in harmony.

Gandhi

We are now in month 16 of our 18 month Yoga Teacher Training and this weekend is our final presentations to the group. The group is amazing with so many interesting, intensely committed people. Each presentation will reflect the passion they have found in the direction this teacher training has opened up to them personally. It’s going to be a very exciting weekend!

A real day off!!!

This is it!! Linds is off to the gym and Ivars and I are having tea, watching the sun rise in the east and the ocean waves crashing out the patio windows on the beach in the west.

A day off…awesome, amazing wonderful!

Be present.
Make tea.
Avoid small talk, make conversation.
Water a plant.
Make your bed.
Make someone else’s bed.
Have a smart mouth and a quick wit.
Walk.
Make art, create.
Take chances.
Ask questions.
Make mistakes.
Learn.
Know your worth.
Love fiercely.
Forgive quickly.
Let go of what doesn’t make you happy.
Grow.

So the day starts with Somatic yoga for us (Ivars had a very big ride yesterday and needs a “stretch” day off today). We may find ourselves on the beach at some time (low tide is 1pm) and when Linds gets back, I think it’ll be a “mother of the groom wedding dress” shopping kinda afternoon.

Another beautiful, mindful day starts…

Pay attention
Be grateful
Let go
Make space
Slow down
Write it down
Act like a tourist
Be

In other words…

buddha

Love to you all…

Mr. Fat Cheeks strikes again…

You know what it’s like to bite your cheek? Well our favourite Grand Prix horse did it at the last show. We both knew he had done it and luckily, didn’t interfere with the test…thank goodness.

So we had the equine dental vet out last week. There wasn’t much to do, a light float to take care of minor edges. But he had a large (quarter sized) lesion on the inside of his cheek.

And because it’s slightly swollen, it’s likely to be re-bitten. So we’ve ridden in the snaffle since the last show giving his mouth a lot of room and as much time as possible to heal. His noseband is always super loose and we loosened it more.

When I checked him yesterday, the lesion was much improved (about the size of dime) but decided that it was still too likely he would re-bite it with his double bridle in and the test of the Grand Prix CDI ahead.

So we’re staying home instead of riding at the show in San Juan this weekend. This will give his mouth three more weeks to heal before our last California CDI at the end of April. Very hard decision but the right decision.

Lindsey is very disappointed (as you can imagine!!) but she is a competitor, a very good competitor…

Success in life

comes when you simply refuse to give up,

with goals so strong that obstacles, failure and loss

only act as motivation.

So we’ll spend the week riding at Arroyo and cheer on Team Peters from home. Yeah live streaming!!!

Off to fit in an early morning lesson with Shannon… ❤
