Now that boys and girls, was fun!

Yesterday we had a very good early morning school in the indoor arena in preparation for the freestyle that night. Lance was awesome, Lindsey was awesome and everyone was happy! We then had a long, rainy day ahead of us till Freestyle night. It was a Net Flix afternoon at home!! ūüôā

Last night was electric in the Del Mar arena. Lots of people, lots of noise and under the lights!! Lance is a very cool dude and nothing much bothers him but even he snorted with excitement in a couple of the piaffe movements! Go Lance go!! It was a great freestyle, a great test!!! 66.2%, 6th place. I am so proud of them!!!

So we celebrated our last show here by going to I N Out…I know, I know…too much excitement…we’ll keep it down now till we get home!!

Checking scores on FoxVillage on Lindsey's phone is not easy this weekend.

Eddie took Lance and Magic home last night. Thank you Eddie! So today we are off to finish packing up the trailer and take it back to Arroyo. Today is “feet” trimming day at Arroyo! Sossity and Mario will make sure their feet are all looking good and in good balance for the trip home.

It’s going to be a great Sunday!!

This never gets old…

Del Mar National CDI.

4 22 2

We love this show.

4 22 1

This will be our 6 year at this show. (7…if you count the time I came down to scout out a new coach to help us in our international goals and found her…Shannon Peters!!!).

Each year this show is always exciting for us. The work from the last 3 months with Shannon is getting solid. We are understanding the concepts and Lindsey and Lance are able to consistently add these new skills to the work. ūüôā ūüôā ūüôā ūüôā Shannon’s happy, I’m happy, Lindsey’s happy and most importantly Lance is happy. A happy Grand Prix horse…happy in his understanding of the work, happy in his ability to do the work, he’s happy and willing in the very difficult Grand Prix work.

This never gets old…<3

Learning, learning, learning….

It was a wonderful, wonderful day yesterday.

When our friend Gary said learning to ride Grand Prix was like learning to ride all over again; he was perfectly, succinctly and very insightfully correct.  Riding Grand Prix is a whole new level of riding girls!!!

And we have been working very, very hard this winter¬†to solve this riddle. ¬†Yesterday’s Grand Prix test was totally on the right track.

I couldn’t be more prouder or more thankful after Lindsey and Lance’s test yesterday. ¬†Putting together the Grand Prix with organization, subtly, and understanding is the start of the next part of this journey and we are so excited to be headed there!!

Determined to Learn

The scores were not quite what we expected, but that’ll work itself out with time.

Today is a day off for Lance and school for William and Fred. ¬†With wind and wave advisories out for San Diego, it is going to be a very interesting weather day. ¬†The Grand Prix Freestyles are tonight (Lance is NOT doing his freestyle at this show). ¬†They are in the indoor arena so won’t be too affected by the weather.

I’ve heard from folks at home that the live streaming was not working yesterday…darn. ¬†Hopefully they will have it working tonight and you can catch Legolas and Magic’s tests tonight…Go Team Peters!!!

Off to the bustery day at the show…

Training in the sun…

Yesterday’s training at the show grounds went very well. ¬†Shannon helped us with both William and Lance. ¬†William worked outside and Lance in the indoor (Del Mar) arena.

Everyday I video all three of our rides at Arroyo or at the shows and we review them at home each night. ¬† The videos take up at lot of time and disc space so it has worked out that I’v not taken many photos this year!!

So this show there will be more photos!!!  I promise!!

William, yesterday

William, yesterday

Good boy, William

Polishing and cleaning!!

Polishing and cleaning!!

I didn’t get photos of Lance in the indoor yesterday…there was a lot of traffic in there and the light was not great. ¬† (but he did look wonderful!!!! ¬†You’ll have to take my word for it!!!) ¬†I’ll try again today!!!

Today is a ride on both boys at the show grounds with Shannon, work with Fred at Arroyo and the jog back at the Fairgrounds at 3pm.

The kids had a great day at the beach yesterday and we all met for dinner at the end of the day. ¬†They finished the day off at the house in the pool before bed time…lotsa smiles, lotsa giggles and lots and lots of splashing!!!

Another very full day ahead…

Live Streaming Del Mar National?

The Grand Prix ¬†(Friday, 3pm), Grand Prix Freestyle (Saturday, 7:45pm) and the Young Rider’s Grand Prix (Sunday, 1pm) will be live streamed. ¬†The ¬†link to the live stream is ¬†from the USEF site.

Lance and Lindsey will be in the Grand Prix and Friday.  Most of the Grand Prix class will be competing in the freestyle on Saturday night.  We decided to take a miss at the Freestyle class this show and opted for the Grand Prix Special class instead.  (the Grand Prix horses have the option of two classes for each show; GP/GPS or GP/Freestyle).

The CDI jog is Thursday (3pm) and the draw for ride times for the Grand Prix on Friday is after the jog.

Del Mar Fairgrounds

Today is lessons with Shannon and then a stop at the show grounds at the end of the day to set up Lance and William’s¬†stalls. ¬†We’ll take the boys over tomorrow morning.

Off the stable…the kids arrive today!!!!

A Fine Warm Up Day at Del Mar National

We had a great warm up day yesterday.¬† The boys looked great!¬† William was a bit of a stinker at the beginning of his lesson.¬† He totally got over himself and went to work and worked hard for the whole lesson.¬† Good boy…growing up is very important…for everyone involved!!!

We had a bit of a glitch with Lance’s class on Saturday.¬† The Inter 2 Open class is not available and he was entered into the Inter 2 Adult Amateur/Jr rider class.¬† Lindsey is not an AA or a Jr so we needed to find another class for him or he would only have one ride for this show.¬† Not good.¬† Luckily the show office worked some magic and Lance has a ride in the Inter 2 Open class today!¬† Yeah!!¬† Intermediare 2 is the right test for him at this stage of the game and he’ll get to show 2 days this weekend.

Fred is feeling soooo much better…thanks Dr. Paul!!!¬† She’s actually becoming a bit annoying…she wants to go back to work and enough of this hangin’ out being bored!¬† Whewww…she’s missing out on showing here but at least she’ll be 100% well to load on the truck for the big trek home.

William LOVES to canter...wheeeeeee.

William, down to business in the Durante Ring.

Starting to trot like a big boy...

Lance in the indoor CDI ring.

Start of half pass left...

Into a line of one tempi changes...

And now some trot work...

"I think I'm getting this Passage thing Linds!!!!"

There were many “goosebump” moments yesterday.¬† The hard work, good coaching and time spent are all coming together to develop these horses.¬† Soooo looking forward to today’s rides!!!!

Shannon and Odie schooled in the Del Mar ring after Lance.¬† Odie looked wonderful.¬†¬† Every show he gets better and better.¬† Patience, perseverance and belief in her horse is paying off big time.¬† Shannon is such a skilled, feeling rider that Odie has blossomed over this season into an amazing GP horse.¬† Another “goosebump” moment to watch!

Curtis and Barb arrive today.¬† Peter arrives tomorrow.¬† Ivars, Aleks and Neil arrive on Saturday.¬† The transport arrives on Sunday morning.¬† And then the homeward trek begins…

An early start to another great day…
