Self guided tour...great info!

Self guided tour…great info!

The whole experience is very well done; from the self guided tour to the skywalk itself.  Well worth the time to get there.  And it’s an amazing drive on the magnificent Icefield Parkway!!  Mountains, mountains, mountains…deer, elk, moose and even a black bear!!!

A small note…get there early, the buses start arriving at about 10:30…

We spent the next night in Banff and headed home on Sunday.  Not often we get a weekend off together…it was a wonderful weekend…so worth the scramble to get on the road after work Friday!

Mom’s 80th Birthday…

Thank you to Maureen and Peter for hosting Mom’s 80th birthday yesterday.  It was awesome!!

We decided to re-create a family photo done for Mom and Dad’s 25th wedding anniversary.  As it’s so hard to get us all together at one time…a innovative solution to the photo problem…we added balloons for the 2 missing siblings! Love you Mary Ann (hope your back recovers quickly) (she’s the green one).  And because Brad was with us (as he always is) so we gave him a marker for the photo!

Self-carriage is not just a horse issue!

Dressage, like Pilates, is about dynamic stability for both the horse and rider.  A fully stable rider is better able to effectively influence the horse as they move together both horizontally and vertically.

Pilates, in general, will improve your riding technique by improving body awareness and connection, general suppleness, better balance, and overall strength.

An aware, supple, balanced rider can better influence and create these qualities in her horse.

Soooooo…with that idea in mind…we’ve got workshops planned!!!

Sunday, June 01 – Dressage/Pilates: Refresh and Review

  • This one day clinic will be a great way for previous Dressage/Pilates participants to brush up on and delve deeper into techniques learned in last years workshops.  A great way to add depth to your riding and get ready for show season!
  • $150

Saturday/Sunday, June 14/15 – Dressage/Pilates: 2 Day Workshop

  • This 2 day clinic with your horse is a great introduction to how Pilates will improve your riding and how to apply the principals of Pilates to your riding.
  • $375

May the 4th Be with You…

So today is happy birthday to me…

Turning 60 seems to be a big deal.

Turning 60 seems like a milestone.

I don’t know how I made it this far…I am grateful…

Ageing gracefully

“Aging is not ‘lost youth,’ but a new stage of opportunity and strength. It’s a different stage of life, and if you are going to pretend it’s youth, you are going to miss it. You are going to miss the surprises, the possibilities, and the evolution that we are just beginning to know about because there are no role models, no guideposts, and no signs.” ~ Betty Friedan

Do what you feel is right

“An older woman was asked by a child if she were young or old. ‘My dear,’ she replied, ‘I have been young a very long time.'”

Beautiful old

The more candles on my cake means more exercise blowing them out!

Happy 60th birthday to me!!

The Long Trek Home…

Lindsey and Peter have started the big job of driving the horses home.  They leave Del Mar this morning; Idaho Falls tonight and home Saturday night.

2 very long days of driving ahead…big sigh…I am sooooo looking forward to unloading them at home Saturday night…

I had a wonderful low key day yesterday.  Morning chores, rode my horse and did some horse clothes shopping (everyone got new sheets!!!).

As I was walking Grace back out to her paddock, I met Tippy and her best friend sunning themselves in the yard….

Yes...Tippy (the cat) and her best friend...our resident fox. I guess we should name him...

Yes this is Tippy (the cat) and her best friend…our resident fox!!!!!

As this fox has permanently moved in to our farm, we probably should name him??!!!  Or her???  This will be a good job for the kids today…thinking caps on!!

Off to work out and then to ride!!!!

Home, home, home!!!!

A day of travel yesterday and now enjoying a wonderful morning at home!

At 4:30 the sun is slowing coming up and illuminating the springtime starting to erupt in my yard.  Oh the joys of spring!!  And at the top of the springtime to-do list is to take the winter cover off the little car…it’s time to get it on the road again for warm weather, fun driving!

We had a wonderful day in Disneyland with the kids on Tuesday.  It was very warm but very windy so comfortable for everyone!  The kids had a great day (even Baby Meghan was enthralled with the sights and sounds of the magical kingdom!!).  And some of the adults (Andrew and Ivars) had a “screamin’ ” great ride on the roller coaster while the kids enjoyed the merry-go-round.

Disneyland is really like Vegas for toddlers…my ears are still ringing from the dinging sounds of the park just they do the day after a trip to Vegas!
