A week with the big kids in Del Mar

We made a big decision as a family this year and sold the Foretravel (our motorcoach).  We then needed accommodation for our time in San Diego this year.  After much searching, I found a cozy little beach house in Del Mar.  It was small enough to be affordable and large enough to accommodate all the team.

We will be here for 2 months with the horses so Ivars and I decided to rent the cottage for an extra month and spend some time with the kids at the beach.  It’s quite a feat of logistics to coordinate 4 different families and arrange travel plans that would suit everyone.  We spent a week here at the beginning of February with Andrew, Kirsten and the 2 babies, Mack and Cali.  We then headed back home for a couple of weeks of work.  The end of February we were back at the cottage with Gregory and Phaedra from Edmonton and Aleks and Neil (and the dogs, Rosie and Sam) from Phoenix.  We had a blast!

Lindsey and Peter are driving the horses down from Alberta to Arroyo Del Mar.  This is the first year we have arranged transport this way for the horses (the previous years, we have shipped them commercially).  It’s a bit tricky to travel with a gelding, a mare and a stallion.  It takes a flexible trailer to be able to accommodate them all comfortably.  Fingers crossed, it looks like we have it figured out.

They all left Alberta yesterday morning, overnighted in Idaho Falls and are now on the road to Vegas.  They will overnight in Las Vegas and will have a short drive tomorrow to Arroyo.  Wheeeewwwww.  Tomorrow I’ll breathe easier as I see them all walk off the trailer.

Off to a Pilates Reformer class…
