Monthly Archives: December 2010

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I really love snow.

Early morning view from our deck.

I love early mornings.

Horses are all doing very well.  Lance has one tempis figured out and is on his way to understanding passage to piaffe and back again.  Fred and William are feeling quite confident with the Prix St George work and working on the Inter One figures this week.  Life is very good.

Mack’s new haircut…

Daddy (Andrew) took Mack for a haircut on the weekend and now he’s ready for Christmas photos!  (He looked pretty cute with long curls but couldn’t see as well as he can now!!!)

Serious playin' at Grandma's house.

"This bead goes here and this bead goes here and...."

Lunch, a good long nap and then tackle an interesting problem...what a day!

Off to turn horses out for a couple of hours in the snow…

Tick another thing off the list…

Dr. Herbers will be out today to give everyone a final check up for the trip south.  Export papers to be filled out, FEI passports to be checked and insurance papers to be filed…and another job organized and done.

It’s getting close!  We’re all working hard and the horses look great.  Christmas will be just a small bump in the month this year, I’m sure!

Keeping our eye on the ball and gettin’ ready for California!

One month to go!!!

The countdown is on!!!  In one month we will load the horses (and all tack boxes, feed, etc needed) on Thompson’s transport truck at 6am and they will be on the road, south to Arroyo Del Mar.

Lindsey and Peter will  leave here around January 01 with the truck and trailer.  Ivars and I will head to California from Phoenix December 30 with the coach.  We’ll all be waiting anxiously for the horses to arrive in California,  January 5.  It’s about 44 hours driving from Flying Colours to Arroyo.  Last year they arrived in great shape (thanks to Thompson Transport!)  and we were riding the next day.

This month will be very busy with ramped up training and packing.  Three competition horses for 4 months in California means a lot of planning and schlepping of  boxes and trunks.  And it’ll be worth every minute, working with Shannon daily, 5 shows (4 CDIs) within several hours drive of Arroyo and new level of knowledge to bring home for 2011.

Off to start a great day…

Life at home…

This has been a busy week back at home.  My desk is piled with papers and I am slowly wading through.  The desk top is almost visible!  Mack and Grandma have had some fun afternoons but Mack has decided napping is dumb and playing is better (I don’t agree with the concept at any level but I was out voted by a toddler!).  Needless to say, there are many projects not completed yet.

The horses are going great.  Lindsey has done an amazing job and everyone is on-line and ready for Shannon and California.  We have worked out our show schedule for California.  4 CDIs and one National show.  We start showing Feb 10 and finish May o1.  We’re gearing up for a very busy, hard-working spring show season.  Take a deep breath and jump!

Off to push some paper around for the morning…
